Travel information
Airport (VNO) to City centre/Old Town
Vilnius International Airport is located close to the city centre (~6 km), thus it is accessible by Vilnius public transport (20-25 min ride) or taxi services (15-20 min ride). Both the taxi pick-up location and the bus stop are situated right outside the arrivals exit. A public transport ticket for a 30 min ride costs 0.65 €, meanwhile a taxi to the city center can cost from 5 € to 15 € depending on the time of day/traffic (usually more expensive during rush hours and after plane arrivals).
Airport (KUN) to Vilnius
The second busiest airport (Kaunas) is located ~100km away from Vilnius. There are buses connecting the airport and Vilnius directly as well as trains and buses from the city center (usually at least 5 options every hour). If you plan to fly into Kaunas and need assistance planning your trip do not hesitate to contact us by e-mail.
Train/Bus station to City centre/Old Town
The train station has two major daily routes, from Riga (LV) and Krakow/Warsaw (PL) (tickets can be bought at “LTG Link”), while bus station operates many European lines. Both stations are in the city centre jus a 5-10 min walk away from the old town. There are also bus stops for public transport just outside with the main lines being buses 1G and 53 (to the city centre) and trolley bus 2 (to the venue).
City center/Old Town to FTMC
The conference venue is easily accessible by public transportation. You can either take the express bus 4G or trolley buses 2; 4; 10; 14; 19. All of these rides take less than 30 minutes so paying for a 30 min ticket will be sufficient (0.65 €). “Nemenčinės plentas“, “Saulėtekis” or “Antakalnio žiedas” are the bus stops closest to the venue. Walking time from all of these stops is approximately 5 to 7 minutes. A taxi ride from the city centre would take around 15-25 minutes and cost 5 € to 10 €. Additionally, for people choosing to live close to the venue “Bolt” offers electrical scooters (0.20 €/min) and bikes (0.18 €/min).
Mobile Applications
Getting around is made easier by downloading travel applications, here is a list of the most important ones:
- “Trafi” is an all-in-one public transport app, combining both the ticket purchase and route planning. You can input the address of the venue (Saulėtekio al. 3) with our location enabled and the app will find the best route to take. Additionally, you can purchase public transport tickets (minimum transaction 5 € via debit/credit card). 30 min and 60min tickets cost 0.65 € and 0.90 € respectively, while 1-day and 3-day tickets cost 5 € and 8 € respectively. Tickets for a single ride on a single bus can also be purchased from the driver for 1 € in cash, though if you chose this option make sure you have coins or small (5/10 €) bills. Tickets purchased in app have to be activated to be valid, while paper single-use tickets are validated at validation devices on the bus itself.
- “Bolt” is an app offering ride-hailing (taxi like) services, the payment is usually done by adding a debit/credit card to the app, but there is also an option for Apple/Google pay and cash payments (please note that cash is rarely used both in taxies and busses so make sure to have small denominations). Additionally, “Bolt” offers electric scooters and bikes (payment is only possible via credit/debit cards and Apple/Google pay). By choosing the “2-wheels” tab in app, you will see a map of scooters (0.2 €/min) and bikes (0.18 €/min). The ride is started by scanning the QR code that can be found on the scooter/bike.
- “Uber” is another ride-hailing service that operates In Vilnius, which works in the same way as “Bolt” but usually tends to have lower prices. Payment is possible by adding a credit/debit card, Apple/Google pay, and cash.
Arriving by car
For those arriving by car please note that there is a limited number of public parking spaces next to the venue. If you want to arrive by car please inform us, so we can let you in to the employee parking.
