Biography: Paula Ferreira is a coordinator researcher at CICECO-DEMaC/UA. Her main scientific interests include development of biomaterials from agrofood industry, active and intelligent food packaging, biocompatible flexible materials, design and characterization of functional materials, namely ferroelectrics, piezoelectrics, multiferroics and electric conductive materials and for catalytic, gas adsorption and energy. She published over 131 papers and 4 book chapters, with ca. 2909 citations (h-index 32 (SCOPUS)). She has given over 80 scientific and technical talks at international conferences and 20 invited talks. Paula Ferreira was Principal and Co- Investigator on, respectively, 7 and 6 FCT research project awards. She participates in several projects with industry such as POTATOPLASTIC, PLASTICOLIGHT, WASTE2VALUE, BagaConValor, and CLEVER (coordinator). She is currently coordinating the M-era.net project BIOFOODPACK. During the last 17 years, she is(had) supervising(ed) 12 Post-doctoral fellows, 15 PhD (6 already concluded and 9 in progress), 30 Master (25 concluded and 5 in progress) and 30 last year project students and more that 26 initial research fellows. She has been involved in more than 10 European COST actions on the development and characterization of functional materials, belonging to the management comity of 5 of them. She is currently Science communication coordinator of the Cost action CA20116 – OPERA - European Network for innovative and Advanced Epitaxy and Leader of working group 4 of the Cost action CA20126 – NETPORE – Network on porous semiconductors and oxides.
