Biography: Charles Cornet (Professor) is head of the “Optoelectronics, Heteroepitaxy and Materials” (OHM) research team at Institut FOTON - CNRS (INSA Rennes engineer school, France). After studies of fundamental physics in University Paris-Saclay, he pursued a PhD thesis on optoelectronic properties of semiconductor quantum dots within European networks of excellence. In 2007 he became Ass. Prof. at Institut FOTON, focusing on the monolithic integration of III-V semiconductors on Silicon. In 2017, he took the responsibility of the OHM research team, whose activities focus on materials and devices for photonics and energy applications, including group III-V, group IV semiconductors and hybrid perovskites. In 2020 he obtained a full professor position at Institut FOTON (INSA Rennes). Specialist of growth, structural, and optoelectronic properties of III-V semiconductors and their integration on Si, he is presently working on III-V/Si hybrid combination of materials for non-linear photonics and energy harvesting applications, such as solar hydrogen production or photovoltaics.
Projects: *2022-2026: PEPR H2-NAUTILUS: “Robust, cost efficient and autonomous photoelectrochemical cells with III-V thin films on Si for practical hydrogen production”. *2021-2025: ANR PRC project “collaborative”: “PhysIcAl properties of hybrid semimetal/semicoNductor III-V/Si maTerials (PIANIST)”
