Bio: Anna Grędzińska is responsible for developing and implementing anti-discrimination policies and activities enhancing equal treatment and diversity at the University of Warsaw. She is involved in integrating a gender equality perspective in variety of policies, programs and projects. Anna coordinates numerous activities such as: implementing the Gender Equality Plan for the University of Warsaw, developing of an e-learning equality course for employees and students, issuing publications and guidelines and carrying out numerous social awareness campaigns and projects.
She also holds a position of an Antidiscrimination Coordinator and closely cooperate with the Rector’s Committee for Preventing Discrimination.
Previously employed in the central administration of Poland – she worked at the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, where she was responsible for developing and implementing national and international solutions in the area of human rights protection and gender equality.
Abstract: The presentation will focus on the importance of equality and diversity in science. I will provide general information on the situation of women in science – statistics, roles and positions taken by women. I will show what kind of problems and obstacles women scientist encounter in their career development. Special attention will be given to the matter of integrating gender dimension in research and innovation. In that respect I will show the benefits of including diversity and gender equality in science. I will also share some information of experiences and actions implemented at the University of Warsaw in the area of equal opportunities and anti-discrimination.
