OPERA webinar – From epitaxy to leadership – a woman’s path in science of semiconductors

Dear Colleagues,

The OPERA COST Action is delighted to announce the upcoming Women in Science webinar From epitaxy to leadership – a woman’s path in science of semiconductors by prof. Evelyne GIL on June 18, 2025 at 2 pm (GMT+1, Poland time)

Bio and Abstract:

«Evelyne Gil is a professor at Université Clermont Auvergne in France. She is an engineer and holds a PhD in materials science.  She is an expert in hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE), a unique process that uses chlorinated growth precursors and hydrides to grow III-V semiconductors. Her team pioneered the development of HVPE for the synthesis of nanostructures and nanowires with highly controlled, record-breaking morphologies.

In the talk “” prof. Evelyne Gil will share her experience as a researcher, teacher and also as a director of a 400-person laboratory. To introduce the conversation, she will present a few slides, asking an open question: does being a woman make a difference?
